Excerpt: Sibel Edmonds on The Deep State

You many have read or heard Peter Dale Scott use the expression "the Deep State".  At one point in a video interview at Berkeley (I think — I don't have time to find it right now — it may have been an audio elsewhere — I'll correct this when I find it) he explains that "it is a Turkish expression".  Here is a recent interview of Sibel Edmonds with Peter B. Collins (10-14-09).

Beginning at time=15:00 —

PBC - "Very interesting.  Now Sibel, on this chart Luke Rosiak placed the American Turkish Council, which we've talked about at some length, between Hittite Microwave and Lockheed-Martin and Raytheon.  Uh, what does that tell us?

SE - (laughs) That tells you — the, the, the real government in this country.  Now, some people may think this is an outrageous statement.   In Turkey, it's a known fact. People always, uh, refers to "Deep State".  You know, the elected government doesn't mean anything in Turkey.  First of all, it's a military regime.  It's been since the coup d'etat, in 1981.  And there are some movers and shakers within the military, Turkish military.

And of course, it's a lot of it is the United States, OK?  And the, and the elected officials, the elected party really doesn't mean anything.  So the real movers, shakers are referred to, in Turkey, as the "Deep State".

Well, I believe — and that's how it is to me, that, after learning what I have learned, after going through what I have gone through, that we do have a Deep State in United States.  And it's not always the CIA or Karl Rove or Perle, or Feith.  Those are the secondary players.  Those who determine our foreign policy, those who determine our intelligence related operations and activities, those hands belong to the Military-Industrial Complex, and the oil companies.  So, those are the first tiers.  And the tiers below that, those are the permanent fixtures, someone like Kissinger or Scowcroft.

And look at someone like Kissinger: no matter who the administration is, Kissinger is leading head in any White House, whether it's Bill Clinton, whether it's Bush, whether it's right now, Obama.  And who is Kissinger?
And look at Kissinger's companies. Look at Kissinger's firm.  Look at all the companies and all the organizations that he sits on the board of.   What is — who is this guy, Kissinger?  Nobody wants us to look at that.  I mean, during this 9/11 Commission.  He was appointed
— he was the first appointed

PBC - That's right.

SE -  to — OK?  And then he — 9/11 family members exposed the fact that Kissinger, his firm, had bin Ladin's family members as its client.  And this became public news and Kissinger basically removed his name and said OK I'm not gonna be . . . . So that ended up being — not being the case.  So they replaced Kissinger with another Kissinger!  (laughs)

But nobody asks the question in the media, "Exactly what were the services that Henry Kissinger provided bin Ladin family?"

PBC - Well, and I'll just point out one of the things that's most overlooked, is that Paul Bremer, who was sent to Iraq to manage the occupation, when they fired Gen. Garner, was a partner or an associate of Kissinger at his firm in New York.

SE - There you go.

PBC - And so, that is the Deep State.  We can see the outlines of it pretty clearly.

SE - And Kissinger serves the interests of who?  You know?  And Kissinger is not the top guy, he's not the top tier, he's the secondary tier.  People like Kissinger, people like Baker.  Scowcroft, you know, right now he's a special adviser to President Obama.  Nobody's talking about conflict of interest.  Scowcroft represents all this business interests, Military-Industrial Complex, oil companies, but also foreign business interests.  If you look at the Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce you will come across the Scowcroft.  If you look at the Turkish related interests, including the American Turkish Council, ATC, you will see Scowcroft.  And the same thing with Baker.  You come across the same group of people, the same names, the same circles.  And you have these same, the same circles, you have had the same circles for decades.  That's when we're talking about the Deep State, the Real Government in the United States, not these little bureaucracy, not these little figureheads, the head of the CIA, or the head of the — you know, the Justice Department.

PBC - Mm-hm.

SE - You ought to just go and look at the biography of the Rockefellers.  You know?  And, and, and, and see how many Rockefellers really ended up in the CIA?  How much influence Rockefellers had in CIA operations, that they wanted to secure their own dealings with the oil?  You look at the history of that.
